Sam Thompson apologises for resurfaced tweets in which he uses the term ‘gay’ as an insult… admitting ‘I was careless and have grown up a lot’
Sam Thompson has apologised for remarks he made on Twitter in 2013, in which he used the term ‘gay’ as an insult.
The 26-year-old Made In Chelsea star referred to both friends and other Twitter users as ‘gay’ on numerous occasions, when he first shot to fame on the E4 structured reality series.
But the star has profusely apologised for being so blithe with the term, telling The Sun: ‘I was wrong to use language like that. I’ve grown-up a lot since 2013 and would now never be so careless with my choice of words.

‘As a society, we’ve also come a long way, and I think we’re now more aware of the power of the words we use.’
This comes as Sam recently broke his silence on his new romance with ex-Love Islander, Zara McDermott, 22, revealing she made the first move when she ‘slid into his DMs’ to get the ball rolling.
The couple went public with their romance last weekend when they made a joint appearance at Polo In The Park in London, but Sam insisted their union is still blossoming and the pair aren’t exclusive yet.

Speaking to OK! Online, he said: ‘She slid into my DMs. It was great and I’m glad she did. I don’t want to say too much, but we’ve been on a few dates, it’s been a few weeks now.
‘We’re not exclusive, because everyone in this game rushes everything! There’s no need to.’
The reality star went on to praise the former government advisor as ‘really lovely’ and ‘incredibly beautiful’.
Sam added: ‘If you rush into things, sometimes you make a mistake and it gets too intense… she’s a really, really lovely girl and she’s incredibly beautiful.’

Sam and Zara confirmed their romance at Chesterton’s Polo In The Park last Saturday, before enjoying a family barbecue at his sister Louise’s Fulham home the next day.
News of their romance comes just weeks after Zara revealed she had put the breaks on her relationship with X Factor star Olly Murs, 35, due to the couple’s 12-year age gap.
She told The Sun: ‘He [Olly] definitely thought I was his type on paper. He’s a lot older than me though.
‘I feel really annoyed now because it’s awkward. Everyone thinks I’m dating b****y Olly Murs.

Zara confirmed her split from Love Island boyfriend Adam Collard, 23, in February after eight months together.
Sam’s last relationship was also with one of his co-stars; he dated Made In Chelsea’s Sophie ‘Habbs’ Habboo, 25, from May until December 2018.
Prior to that, he was in a long-term romance with ex-MIC star Tiffany Watson, 25, on and off from 2015 to 2017.
