James Rees admits he and his wife Tori ‘definitely thought’ they had lost their son Mack

‘We both burst into tears!’ Children’s entertainer James Rees breaks down as he recalls the moment he and wife Tori thought their newborn on was going to die after routine medical procedure complications

Children’s entertainer James Rees, best known as Jimmy Giggle, has spoken about the traumatic moment his newborn twin son Mack was rushed to the emergency room after suffering complications during a routine tongue-tie medical procedure.

The Giggle and Hoot performer, 31, who dramatically exited DWTS in April due to his son’s health shock, spoke to Studio 10 about how he and his wife Tori, 29, ‘definitely thought they had lost’ their child.

‘We’re not sure how close it really was,’ a visibly emotional James told the show while holding back tears.

He continued: ‘The doctors may have told us but we both definitely thought it.’

The usually upbeat performer said the couple broke down in tears one week later when they realised the true extent of their son’s debilitating health scare.

‘It was about a week later and we had Mack at back home and we hadn’t even talked about it really and we (said), ‘We’re you thinking that?’ and I said: ‘I was thinking that,” he revealed.

‘We both burst into tears and said ‘Oh God!’ Jimmy added.

Back in April, the couple suffered every parent’s worst nightmare after their son was left in a critical condition following an increasingly common procedure, known as a frenectomy, where a thin band of tissue under the tongue is cut.

Mack experienced an incredible amount of blood loss (due to a complication in the procedure) and was rushed to the intensive care unit.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph’s Stellar magazine on Saturday, Jimmy said: ‘This is something they rarely see – that age and that amount of blood loss.’

‘His heart rate had dipped below a threshold so they actually started administering CPR to him. [He] had to have a blood transfusion.’

Jimmy made the difficult decision to leave Dancing With The Stars, on which he was a contestant at the time, to be by his son’s side.

It’s not the first time he’s spoken out about his son’s frightening health scare.

In April, Jimmy dramatically left DWTS, later revealing that his son Mack had been taken to hospital ‘due to complications following a routine procedure’.

The little one has since made a recovery, and joins his twin, Vinnie, and older brother Lenny, three.
